Arsenal fans have been reacting to the news that wonderkid Folarin Balogun has failed to agree terms on a new contract.

The 18-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his deal at the Emirates Stadium and will be sold when the summer transfer window opens as he club look to avoid losing him for nothing next year, The Athletic's David Ornstein states.

Balogun is regarded as one of the more promising youngsters currently on the books at the north London outfit.

His goalscoring record is certainly something special.

He averaged a goal every 62 minutes in the club's U18 title-winning season last season and the step up to the U23's didn't slow him down this term.

Balogun netted 10 goals and weighed in with four assists in 15 appearances in Premier League 2.

However, it would appear that Balogun sees his future elsewhere with the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli and potentially fellow youngster Tyreece John-Jules ahead of him in the pecking order.

As expected, this report has garnered a big reaction from Arsenal fans on social media.

Many are concerned that Balogun could become the latest 'one that got away' for the Gunners, having seen the likes of Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Donyell Malen excel elsewhere since leaving the club.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

Balogun has previously admitted that he models his game on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

"I am the sort of striker that likes to play on the shoulder of the last defender and make runs behind them, similar to the way that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang plays," said Balogun last season in an interview with Arsenal.com.

"I've trained a few times with the first team and I feel that I've benefitted from being involved with them, especially when playing against experienced defenders which forces you to find different ways of getting in on goal as what works at lower levels does not always work against them."
