Tonto Dikeh has called for the commemoration of Sylvester Oromonis 12th birthday at the premises of Dowen College in Lagos.
Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has visited Dowen College with gifts to celebrate the posthumous birthday of the 12-year-old student, Sylvester Oromoni Junior, who was allegedly killed by his colleagues for refusing to join a cult group.

Tonto Dikeh had earlier taken to her Instagram page to appeal to Lagosians to drop a special note and flowers at Dowen College in honor of late Sylvester Oromoni, wishing him a happy birthday.

She wrote, I woke up with so much pain. How do you lose a child in a safe zone and whose birthday is today? Sending love and light to Master Sylvesters family and loved ones. Happy birthday young champ, we promise you justice. #justiceforslyvester.

@dowencollegelagos, we will be leaving flowers and gifts outside your gate. Because today is a childs birthday that died under your care! Please, if you are in Lagos, leave a little gift and prayer at the gate of Dowen College. Thanks.

The crime was a horrible one but you have made it even more horrendous by lying to our faces or just plain ignorant of the affairs of your kids! Whichever way, we caught you and we need justice.

In a follow-up video, a  man could be seen delivering Tonto Dikehs items including a teddy bear with the words I Love you, a box of flowers, and a handwritten birthday card.

The actress, who was in the car while the man was delivering the birthday gifts on her behalf at the schools gate, was playing a track of Michael Jackson titled Gone Too Soon.

Sharing the video, she wrote HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAPTAIN SLYVESTER. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 @dowencollegelagos @dowencollegelagos Cc @dorisogala Thanks for doing this for me @henrysklue #JUSTICEFORSLYVESTER.

Dowen College Student, Sylvester Oromoni
KanyiDaily recalls that a cousin of the deceased, Perrison Onomoni, who broke the news on his Twitter handle, had alleged that Sylvester was beaten to death by five students over his refusal to join their cult group.

Perrison explained that the boy was battered on Friday but later died on Tuesday after a series of tests and X-rays indicated that he sustained internal injuries.

He said that after Sylvesters death, the school management had reached out to the deceaseds father and told him that his boy sustained injuries while playing football at the school.

Speaking with TheCable, the students father narrated how his son was tortured and fed a chemical substance for refusing to join the cult group, adding that the boy suffered liver enlargement due to congealed blood before his death.

Reacting to the allegation, Dowen College debunked claims that Sylvester was beaten to death by suspected cultists in the school, claiming that the deceased sustained injuries while playing football.

The Management of Dowen College insisted that preliminary investigation conducted by the school authorities revealed that there was no fighting, bullying or any form of attack on Sylvester.

The school claimed that one of the hostel parents reported that the boy was injured while playing football, and a resident registered nurse immediately administered first aid on him and later called the students mother to inform her of the situation.

Subsequently, the student complained of having pains in his hip and was attended to again, this time by a doctor and a nurse, and thereafter the resident doctor called his mother requesting that she come for him so that he could get further medical attention.

The school further said it had carried out a preliminary investigation before the boys death and confirmed that there was no case of bullying as no part of his body was broken or injured, adding that it has policies that are strongly anti-cultism.

The management of Dowen College had announced that the school will shut down its academic operations for two days due to the continued outrage tailing the death of the student.

But in a statement on Friday, the Lagos State Ministry of Education said the school has been shut down indefinitely to allow for investigations into how Sylvester Oromoni died under allegedly controversial circumstances on Tuesday.

The Lagos State Government also sympathized with the family of Sylvester, noting that delegates had been sent to the school to investigate the shocking incident, adding that the state was indeed sad about this great loss.

The sister of late Sylvester Oromoni, a student of Dowen College, Amira Oghenetejiri Oromoni, on Saturday, penned down a birthday message to her late brother.

The 12-year-old died after he was allegedly beaten up by his schoolmates over his refusal to join a cult group.

Amira in her birthday message to her late brother charged people not to write sad comments on her page as she will delete it if any is found.

She further stated that she is celebrating her brother because she knows God has a reason for taking him during his birthday week.

Amira, This is not a heartbreaking post but a celebratory one.

My baby took off me couple days to his birthday but I accepted that God has a reason for even taking my daboyy during his birthday week because he wanted him to still be celebrated even in his absence and thats why I am writing this.

I love my baby and I am happy the pain is over.

I am a 16-year old that lost my only younger brother but I know God has provided me with a new reason to live life happily with my 8 siblings instead of 9❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️happy heavenly birthday my baby boyOROMONI SYLVESTER JUNIOR OROMONI. Our small Daddy.

It was recently reported that a 12 year old Sylvester Oromini, a student of Dowen College Lekki, Lagos, died after he was allegedly beaten up by senior students.

The death of this innocent boy caused several people to react differently. Based on that note, the former senator that represented the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Shehu Sani decided to react.

While reacting, the former lawmaker made it known that school suppose to be a peaceful environment where children can learn comfortably, stating it clearly that our society has become so violent and dangerously uncertain.

Speaking further, the former lawmaker stated that no school is safe presently in Nigeria, because the nation is not safe. He went on and made it known that parents have failed to transfer the peaceful society they inherited to their children.

That is indeed a wonderful statement from Shehu Sani. We all know that schools must be blamed, but parents must also be blamed for refusing to teach their children the right thing. Parents must rise up and do their work as parents if we really want to move forward as a country.

The father said the school management were wrong to have allowed the five culprits to leave the school without informing the police.

Sylvester Oromoni, the father of the late student of Dowen College Lekki, Lagos, has alleged that parents of students responsible for torturing his son are on the move to fly them out of the country.

The parents of the boys are wealthy. They withdrew them. The school called the parents to pick their wards; interviewed them. Some of the parents are planning to fly the children out of the country, Mr Oromoni alleged.

The 12-year-old student, Sylvester Oromoni Junior, was allegedly tortured by his fellow students who pressured him to join a cult group in the school.

Although the school management claimed that the student died as a result of injuries sustained while he played football, videos of his last moments indicated that he was beaten, as his lips were swollen and blood was spotted on his teeth, an indication that he also had injuries in the mouth.

But Mr Oromoni who spoke to The Cable, said his sons waist was bent and swollen along with one side of his stomach as a result of the torture.

He said the boy repeatedly denied playing football, but maintained that he was tortured by other students who threatened to kill him if he opened up on his ordeal.

Junior said, mummy, I didnt play ball; I didnt fall. He jumped off his hostel bed. They kicked him, matched his waist. Other students ran off, Mr Oromo said.

Other students were also allegedly warned not to tell staff members about the incident.

They warned Junior to say he sustained injuries while playing ball. They threatened him. If you ask the roommate, theyd all lie. They matched his ribs and waist. All that pain for a 12-year-old, he said.

The deceaseds father also noted that steps were being taken to seek justice for young Oromoni just as he queried the management for allowing students leave the school premises while investigations were ongoing.

How can Dowen allow those boys to leave the school without informing the police? The boys are five in number: four are in SS2 while one is in SS1. When the result comes, Nigerians will know the truth, the father said.

It was alleged in a video shared on Twitter by young Oromonis cousin, Perrison, that one of the students was picked up with a convoy around 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, while another allegedly flew over the fence from the premises.

Several attempts to reach the director of students affairs, Lami Williams, and other top representatives of the school for comments were futile.

Since the incident, there has been outrage as many called for a complete shutdown of the school and demanded justice for the 12-year-old with #Justiceforsylvester trending on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the government of Lagos State has shut down Dowen College indefinitely until investigations are concluded.

 Это важно.

The father of the deceased Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, who bears the same name, has revealed some of the atrocities his son went through in the school.

In an exclusive interview, Oromoni Snr revealed that his son was subjected to severe bullying, disclosing that the boys who allegedly bullied Oromoni Jnr had been reported to the school management the previous term.

He said, My son suffered. His birthday is next tomorrow (Dec 4). Ill celebrate it. Ill have a cake baked. Ill cut it on his behalf. The boys they mentioned were also reported to the school last term when they bullied Junior and collected all his foodstuffs; clothes. I have two daughters, one of whom earlier graduated. I had to remove the second after this incident. They asked this boy to describe the sisters privates and this got to us.

The boys father also revealed that Oromoni Jnr had been issued death threats if he ever revealed what happens to him in school.

He also stated that contrary to what Dowen College had said in a statement addressing the incident, the family friend who they sent to pick up Oromoni Jnr from the school described a totally different situation.

They put fear in him so much so that, when you ask him, he might keep to himself and say, they will kill me. This way, we didnt know what to do. I considered removing him, reconsidered since his sisters were still in the school, Oromoni Snr said.

The new incident came to my knowledge on November 21st after the school called my wife to notify us that our son was in the school clinic, injured. My senior son, who was to make a London trip, came to see us in Warri.

The next day, we sent a family friend to help pick up our son since he was the only person in Lagos and take him to the hospital. When he got there, he panicked, pointing out that he doubts its a football injury as the school claimed. He said the boy couldnt stand because his waist was bent and swollen along with one side of his belly. His mouth was black. I asked, is this really a football injury? He was taken to my house in Lagos but couldnt sleep at night.

I asked my eldest to fly to Lagos on November 24 while I took a trip to Asaba, from where Id also make for Lagos. On getting there, he screamed. This is beyond football injury. Come to Lagos now, he told me over the phone.

Meanwhile, Dowen College, in an email sent to parents early Friday morning, stated that students should not come to school on Friday, 3rd December and Monday, 6th December because of the incident.
