It is no longer news that well-respected Igbo elders led by Chief Mbazulike Amaechi visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock presidential villa last week.

Meanwhile, Sunday Igboho's lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi has praised the Igbo leaders for visiting President Muhammadu Buhari as they urged him to release Nnamdi Kanu.

According to BBC Yoruba, the lawyer frowned at Yoruba elders for not standing by Sunday Igboho who is presently in detention in Benin Republic.

He urged them to emulate the Igbo tribe and do the needful.

Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho became popular early this year when he gave the Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa town in Oyo State a month ultimatum to vacate the land. He gave the order after it was reported that series of killings were allegedly perpetrated by the armed herdsmen.

He is also one of the top Yoruba leaders demanding the independence of the Yoruba people.

I think Yoruba leaders should take the advice of Sunday Igboho's lawyer seriously and visit President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock.

They should also apologize to President Buhari and all Nigerians on behalf of the detained Yoruba leaders.

Since President Buhari has stated that he will consider pardoning Nnamdi Kanu, he might also consider dropping the charges against Sunday Igboho by the government of Benin Republic so that he can unite with his family.
