There seems to be a new development in Ondo state as the state government has recently come up with a new directive that mandates that the Oduduwa nation anthem must be compulsorily recited in all public schools in ondo state, as well as all public functions.
As reported by the Sahara reporters news outlet, this information was conveyed in a circular dated May 6th, 2021 and addressed to all the academic staff in the state public service. This circular was said to have been signed by the permanent secretary, Ondo state Teaching service commission, Tolu Adeyemi.
However, the signed circular was directed to the Tutors-Generals, all TESCOM zonal directors, and all the principals of public secondary schools in Ondo state. According to the message conveyed in the circular, the Ondo state present administration led by governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), showed support for the recitation of the Oduduwa nation anthem, as it believes that it is the Civic responsibility of all the residents in Ondo state.
Interestingly, a copy of the anthem was also attached to the circular distributed, in case some schools have forgotten the anthem.
However, I personally would like to point out that the Ondo state government has only shown support for singing of the Oduduwa nation anthem in schools and public places in Ondo state, this does not mean that the Ondo state government supports the breaking away of the Oduduwa nation from Nigeria, please do not get it twisted.
