LASG declares ‘no cash payment’ at Lekki toll
The Lekki Concession Company has given notice to users in Lagos of the Lekki-Ikoyi Ikoyi Link Bridge, that it will no longer accept cash payment from 2020 in the toll plaza.
A banner at the bridge loudly states:”No more money payment @Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge Toll Plaza, Wednesday 1st January 2020″
There has been no official statement by the business about the planned migration.
During a visit to the plaza, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had stated that the tolling system would go completely electronic.
However, in November, the company updated its tolling systems on Lekki-Epe Expressway at both the Link Bridge and the Admiralty Plaza. It said the update was to enable it to serve the public better by modernizing and enhancing service delivery.
During the upgrade, electronic passages in the Toll Plazas and the online payment platforms were affected from 9th — 15th November, 2019. The upgrade migrated customers’ toll accounts, such as Swift Pass, to the newly installed system.
